Our Backyard – Anglesea & Torquay

Last Saturday when I woke up and the coastline demonstrated all 27 weather patterns, I felt sick and a sense of personal responsibility for the participants of the amazing events that were on! One thing we now know is that dedicated and committed athletes actually embrace anything the universe throws at them and simply add it into the overall mix of the challenge.

In total there were 1,100 runners in the Surf Coast Century 100KM Saturday and another 950 adults and 200 kids on Sunday, which made it a huge weekend for the township and greater Surf Coast region.  All entrants had friends and family here supporting them through and as always there were inspirational stories of courage, like the couple that overcame a battle with cancer and finished up the run at 4am after taking off at 7am the morning prior.  It was amazing to see the head lights in the dark of people running on the beach, it was freezing cold and wet! The winner of the event Ash Watson of Ballarat completed it in just over 8 hours!!!

I want to send an enormous thank you out to our wonderful property owners that supported this event by offering 4pm check outs, so these incredible people were able to have hot showers and baths after toughing it out for up to 21 hours! The feedback from our guests was super positive and certainly appreciated.

So this weekend we celebrate the coast in a creative and visually beautiful way! For lovers of wildflowers and art, the Anglesea Memorial Hall is where it’s at – 22nd and 23rd September from 10am – 4pm. There are guided wildflower walk and bus tour, exhibition and stalls, indigenous flowers and loads of other activities for all ages.

We would also strongly encourage anyone to also check out the ‘DARK MOON EXPRESSIVE ART WOMEN’S CIRCLE’ which looks and sounds amazing. Held at the B100 wholefoods Anglesea, Sunday 7th October, Sunday 4th November and Sunday 9th December 5-7pm. Includes meditation, free-flow creativity, all materials (inc clay) movement, connection in circle. Bookings via CAZ ARTSEA www.cazartsea.com or email cazartsea@gmail.com

Ben Jackson had a couple of great sales this week, after a busy weekend last week. 48 Fairway Drive, Anglesea and 1313a Horseshoe bend Road Torquay. Both occasions buyers made almost immediate decisions to purchase after inspecting.  We love those buyers who love a property and just know it’s the house they want, so do the deal to secure!

Contrary to many property doom and gloom stories in the media over the last week, we are not seeing any negativity on the coast. There are many active buyers wanting to secure properties and from my perspective if the Melbourne market is flattening out, then I believe it only makes the coastal market look like excellent value for money! I’ll be watching with great interest the clearance rates as stock levels rise post winter and the spring season kicks in.

Next week, we have the Grand Final of which Raema and I are praying and hoping for a Tigers Vs Demons game….. and school holidays kick off too….. We’re almost approaching October…. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN????

This week I celebrated my ‘work anniversary’ so ‘LinkedIn’ tells me, its 4 years ago I started working for Great Ocean Road Real Estate. What a wonderful journey it’s been. If someone had of told me I’d love working 7 days a week, I wouldn’t have believed them…… life is good. As they say when you love doing what you do then it’s not really a job.

Have a great weekend, Go Tigers! We look forward to seeing you at the open for inspections and private appointments.
