This week social media has been flooded with pics of kids in their school uniforms heading back into another big year. I believe there’s a combination of tears from parents seeing their little ones growing up too quickly and then tears of joy that the holidays are over!

All our staff and anyone that works along the coast are plonking themselves on the couch and starting to recuperate after long days and many of them.  A huge thank you to the Anglesea team for a very successful summer with each one of our departments over achieving. For property owners, vendors, purchasers and even guests that have stayed with us….. It’s yet again all good news with results supporting a really positive Anglesea market.

SALES – 9 properties sold in January

HOLIDAY ACCOMODATION – Over 185 bookings from Boxing Day and occupancy for our properties sitting at approx. 92%

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT – 100% Occupancy for our permanent rental properties

We recently celebrated the Australia Day long weekend…… which of course isn’t really a long weekend however it made sense to a lot of people to take the extra day. It’s traditionally the last option for agents to conduct Auctions whilst the coast is busy and last week of school holidays.

This year more than most, there has been questions about what ‘Australia Day’ really means to us and whilst I won’t get into the debate right now, I can say I think it means different things to each of us.  From a light hearted perspective I relish in the characters, people giving life a go, quintessential aussie businesses and traditions.

It was our pleasure to Auction the freehold of local and successful business ‘Go Ride A Wave’ on Sunday, which we were thrilled to have SOLD on the day. The company celebrates its 30th year of being in business and continues to thrive. They have had over one million people go through their business teaching people how to surf and generally getting out into the water. They have recruited locals and supported so many staff whilst they went through school themselves and in turn provided incredible training for safety and fun. Amazing that over 40,000 school students and camps transact with ‘Go Ride A Wave’ on an annual basis.

All of the directors and shareholders of the business are still taking private lessons or groups and living very healthy and active lives. One in particular could not get more Australian than having the honour of being  ‘A Solo Man’ ….. take a look at this iconic Television commercial from 1986 and try and get that jingle out of your head! Congratulations to all the ‘Go Ride A Wave’ team.

Whilst the holidays are over Summer is not! This week may see a few people laying low, however the sun will continue to shine and the beaches will remain as beautiful as ever, so jump in your car and get back to the coast. Even one day in the salty air can be a holiday for your mind.
