Our Backyard – Anglesea

Welcome to Anglesea

A WEEK OF PROGRESS!

What a wonderful breakthrough this week for first home buyers! Victoria has traditionally had the highest stamp duty rates in Australia making it incredibly hard for purchasers to get into the market.

There are considerable benefits for buyers in regional areas, who buy a newly built home for about $650k. The savings around $33K with the grant which has now increased from $10K to $20K.

The cuts will come in from July this year and for buyers $300 – $600K there will be NO stamp duty!

$650K will pay $11,357 (saving $22,713)

$700K will pay $24,713 (saving $12,357)

$750K plus stays the same at $40,070

So this is all really great news for anyone wishing to purchase along the coast.

This week on March 8th, we celebrated International Women’s Day. It commemorates the movement for women’s rights and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. Gender equality, a big factor where we would hope that men and women are remunerated for work undertaken regardless of sex.

It’s hard to comprehend a world of discrimination and industries that are still very much dominated by men, real estate is one that has come a long way in the last ten years and rapidly becoming progressive.

In 1902, Australia was the first country in the world to give women both the right to vote in federal elections and also the right to be elected to parliament on a national basis.

I recently went to see the movie ‘hidden figures’ which broaches a multitude of injustices, racism and sexism. It’s based on a true story and whilst I can’t believe the inequalities, it’s also truly inspirational – of course it was a woman that actually put a man on the moon!

So on this note and theme of the week, I want to give a big shout out to the Anglesea team and the fantastic women I have the pleasure to work with, an office dominated by women. Aren’t Ian and Ben so blessed to be surrounded with these brilliant beings!

I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks and appreciation to all the women in our lives.

Have a beautiful long weekend, look forward to catching up with you at the open for inspections.
