Our Backyard – Anglesea

Welcome to Anglesea

If you’re heading to the coast this weekend, you’re in for a treat! Over the last week there have been Whale sightings, yesterday at Kennett River and today in Lorne, so perhaps tomorrow they will be heading to Fairhaven & Anglesea!

If you are considering purchasing a property or a current owner, the best investment I can strongly encourage is ‘heating’. There is nothing worse than a cold home and through the summer it’s not top of mind but now we are well and truly feeling the chill factor, it’s become a high priority.

As properties are being used either permanently or for holiday rental, there has been a shift over the last 2 years how people use their beach house. The traditional seasons, peaks and troughs are now more consistent. This long weekend is a classic example of everyone wanting to head out of town, rug up, relax and nestle in front of the fire. Whilst split systems are brilliant to instantly take the chill out of the air quickly, you really can’t beat a wood fire to warm up a house…. Not to mention sit in front of whilst sipping on a mulled wine! If you fancy making some, here’s a great recipe I found…

A lot of older properties just don’t have adequate insulation, there are some fantastic under floor, wall and ceiling materials that will hold the warmth in a house. Adequate insulation will in fact assist with all seasons of the year and add value to the house & save on energy bills.

In August 2015 Alcoa – Anglesea power station & mine closed down and there have been many questions around the site and the future of it. Again if you are in Anglesea over the long weekend there is an opportunity to join the ‘Drop In’ session to view the proposed ‘Mine Rehabilitation & Closure Plan’ and share your views prior to its submission to the state government for approval.

Sunday 11th June 10am – 1pm @ Anglesea Senior Citizens Club, McMillan Street, Anglesea.

Also see below link for further information – download the plan and complete the survey.

We have had some beautiful sunny mornings this week, which is always great for getting out and having a walk or surf before the grey skies and rain settles in. Enjoy this special time with your friends and family.

Have a great long weekend. Feel free to drop in and chat to Ben and I should you wish to discuss your property requirements.
