Our Backyard – Anglesea

Welcome to Anglesea

Real Estate is an industry that I absolutely love because we are always dealing with people on a personal and intimate level. The purchase or selling of a property usually has a very deep emotional connection to it and there are many circumstances as agents that we have to be aware of with the view of providing the appropriate consultation, advice, empathy or celebration!

Working on the coast means being available when buyers and vendors are around and that is weekends, holidays, seasons – spring and summer. Agents with family, sometimes finding it tough having to miss important private occasions due to work commitments.

Last week, Ian Lewtas officially retired from the industry. This incredible man has been working for over 30 years in real estate and had experience negotiating over 1500 real estate transactions! Ian moved to Anglesea in 1966, so having lived in the place he worked, had an intimate knowledge of the area. Being a resident for over 50 years, meant he has earned a reputation throughout Anglesea and the Surf coast as an honest, trustworthy person that has worked tirelessly for his clients.

Ian was invested in the community, loving his Wednesday golf game, enjoying walks in the bush and beach, heading to the local footy – supporting the Anglesea kangaroos! Of course we all know he was an excellent footballer himself, having played for Geelong.

When I moved from the Melbourne market, Ian was a breath of fresh air, he genuinely offered to assist any way he could, going out of his way to support the team around him. Locals preferred to deal with Ian when it came to business because you couldn’t get a more ethical, caring and professional agent in town. He was the only agent that actually lived in the place that he listed and sold property.

The Lewtas name, both Ian and his brother Geoff has been synonymous with Real Estate, Business and the Anglesea community. Having both now retired, it’s an end of an era of these great individuals being professionally imbedded in our lovely village.

Ian has 3 children and we are blessed to have his daughter Nicole working with us, so there is still a Lewtas carrying the torch in our office. With 2 beautiful grandchildren and divine wife Karen, we know Ian can now spend time doing the things he’s been unable to for so many years.

We’re not sure if it was working in an office full of women that has driven him to retirement or the desire for well-deserved break, we will however miss his presence and company on a daily basis.

From all of us at Great Ocean Road Real Estate, we are truly grateful & thankful for his years of service and his personal investment. We wish him lazy mornings, long golf days, hours of family time & sunny weekends! He is very appreciated and missed already.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the school holidays more importantly embrace every moment you have in this precious life!
