Our Backyard – Anglesea

Happy Long Weekend! Queen’s birthday celebration… except, it’s not the queen’s birthday right? not that we care as we are always elated to have an extra day on the coast. The current queen celebrates her birthday on 21st April, so why this weekend and date?

‘The day has been celebrated since 1788, when Governor Arthur Phillip declared a holiday to mark the birthday of the King of Great Britain. Until 1936, it was held on the actual birthday of the monarch, but, after King George V died, it was decided to keep the date on the second Monday in June’

Every morning this week I have been out walking the coastline and there is a window when the sun comes up (not exactly at sunrise). It has been absolutely spectacular, as crazy as it sounds I have been in a t-shirt and invigorated by the warmth, the low tides and gentle waves. I receive notifications via admin@visitgreatoceanroad.org.au that advise any sightings of whales along the coast, there have been a few travelling from Fairhaven to Queenscliff in the last week, one right out the front at the Aireys inlet light house only a couple of days ago. You can register on that site to be informed of sighting so you can head to the location, so keep your eyes peeled for these incredible creatures sending magical vibes our way. I was walking through the week, so literally without another person around and saw a few out there swimming and it’s an incredibly feeling to witness, I felt a sense of being at one with nature and I’m sure they are just as enamored with our coastline as we are.

Winter is a patchy time with property, every year stock levels go down so the usual propaganda of the market dropping and sending buyers and sellers into a slight panic. I always think it’s a great time to buy in winter, things do not change and it’s a perfect time to set yourself up for the spring. Statistics demonstrating that activity in Anglesea is just as strong with sales performance as any other time of the year. For us as agents we tend to deal with genuine buyers that have been looking for a while and known to us, so finance approved and ready to do a deal.

In saying that, I’ve had offers on pretty much every property this week, however negotiations not quite getting across the line, due to a few factors but mainly buyers not taking on board vendors very clear instructions and feedback. I am very grateful to the people I represent, all very reasonable and respectful – all not really wanting to play the game. I cannot stress this enough to buyers that negotiations don’t have to be this awful grey field of toing and froing, candid and open is the best way for everyone. If you love a property, tell me and I’ll help you buy it – seriously it’s that simple!

Most days I’m in the office but today, It just happened that I ran into vendors at a café and had a cuppa and catch up with them, from there went and had morning tea with property owners advising on their home and position and then had lunch cooked for me with another vendor! Happy Friday indeed. I spent my day doing exactly what I love best, chatting to excellent humans that I adore. I end this week absolutely feeling blessed doing what I love!
