Our Backyard – Anglesea

Welcome to Anglesea

This week we have seen the coast as busy as it had been over the peak of Christmas and New Year, not just people staying here in Anglesea but a lot of people making day trips. We often have buyers come through our open for inspections on weekends that have driven down for the day to see properties, whilst of course enjoying a lunch, surf or walk along the beach.

The hour and half drive from Melbourne again reinforcing how accessible Anglesea is and just having a day here can reinvigorate your soul! Buyers getting a taste of what it would be like on a more regular basis should they be able to secure an affordable beach house.

Whilst we have had Easter and School holidays, there has also been the Rip Curl Pro surfing competition on at Bells Beach. What an amazing triumph for Australian Mick Fanning who won the Men’s final for the fourth time, only two others have ever been in this position – Kelly Slater and Mark Richards. It is such a credit to this incredible athlete and in some way every Victorian and certainly home owners on the entire coastline feel proud of Micks achievement right here on our doorstep. The competition generates approx. $2 million in tourist revenue, so we thank him for that too!

There were a lot of people enjoying a walk along the beach at Guvvos, O’Donohue Road and Point Roadknight and if you have been one of them you would have noticed the signs to watch out and take care of the Hooded Plover birds that have been breeding. These birds are bordering on extinction with only around 500 or so in Victoria. They are mainly found here in Anglesea and because they don’t build nests, they lay their eggs on the beach, they are incredibly vulnerable. Today after a period of a few weeks, the chicks can now fly! So to all the people that have been keeping their dogs on leads and staying away, a big thank you from the conservationists on watch on the beach.

This weekend marks the end of the School holidays and it’s been interesting for our team here in holiday rental – Elise and Nicole as they are getting many requests and bookings for properties right up until Christmas New Year 2016. Also again high demand for Cheryl and Hayley in our permanent rentals. Any buyers looking for an investment property, really positive signs for demand and growth for the next 12 months. Interest Rates again remaining unchanged, so never better conditions to dive into the property market. Our Team at Great Ocean Road Real Estate have over 1000 properties on offer along the coast again making us market leader in what we do, property and real estate transactions.

To our vendors and landlords that have been providing amazing feedback via testimonials to us, we thank you for this as it means the world to us. (I also loved receiving positive phone calls on the blog)
