Our Backyard – Anglesea

Welcome to Anglesea

Last week of the school holidays and we also have a long weekend coming up! This is when I’m proud to be an Australian (Victorian), a public holiday for a game of footy and then one for a horse race in November.

As I was born into AFL football with my father playing for Richmond, it is in my blood to be passionate about the game. This year whilst my team isn’t playing in the Grand Final and let’s not even go there about the tigers, I am so thrilled for the Western Bulldogs. I also love all the stories associated with players, team spirit and true athletes digging deep to get over the line.

On Monday night we saw Patrick Dangerfield win the Brownlow medal, an absolute stand out in the polling and clear winner with 35 votes.  The Anglesea community were very proud to see him not only win it but speak eloquently & be so gracious in his acceptance. Patrick started his football career playing for Anglesea Kangaroos and the family has had a long history with the coast. His father was a highly respected teacher and taught our very own Nicole Lewtas at high school. Patrick recently dealt with our Aireys Inlet office when it came to selling his property, and it was successfully sold off market.

On Saturday the Anglesea community will be watching closely another local in Luke Dahlhaus and again we have had the pleasure of dealing with his lovely family on a real estate level. Luke has been an absolute star for the Bulldogs and all of us in the Anglesea office will be sending our good vibes his way!

The market generally has been quiet with listings for this time of year, although it really hasn’t felt much like spring at all. So perhaps we will have a late start to the season! Looks like it will be winter on Saturday and spring on Sunday, so a typical mixed bag of weather coming up.  Whatever happens I’m sure there will be plenty of BBQ’s, catching up with friends and family and hopefully celebrations!

Our road works in Anglesea are going to test some patience as there is a long wait at the roundabout whilst they undertake putting in extra lanes. The building works are apparently going to take a couple of months…… It’s now taking me at least 15 minutes to get to work instead of 3!!!! Tough going but as a former Melbourne resident, traffic is something I’m used to and a small price to pay for living in this beautiful place.
