Our Backyard Anglesea & Torquay

We love our overall sponsorship of the yacht club but particularly our major sponsorship of the club’s annual Roo Run. A true community event run totally by volunteers. This year it was held in perfect conditions and attracted 751 runners making it one of the biggest events of its type on the coast – how good is that? A feature is the Grommet’s Gallop for kids and the amazing Starfish Nippers. It’s wonderful to see all the families participating and everyone got a medal. So funny to see the dash to the bbq afterwards for the free sausages provided by the Anglesea Primary School too!

Well done to the winners of the 8 k Roo Run – Grant Simpson (27.04) and Harriet Smith (30.50). I was delighted to be involved in the pre-race sponsor briefing where we heard from race ambassadors Ellie Pashley from Airey’s Inlet. Ellie has qualified for the upcoming Olympics having recorded the fastest 10,000 m in Australia and is eying of a spot in the women’s marathon. Her coach is fellow Roo Run ambassador and multi winner Julian Spence. We will all be following Ellie’s progress and supporting her all the way!

And speaking of the yacht club, the newly formed fishing division – the Rusty Anglers will be having a bbq tomorrow from 12 midday at the club with guest speakers and details about the group and what its plans are, so pop down and find out all about it. If you’re currently a full AMYC member, for an additional $30 you can also join the anglers club, I think its worth it just to see Macca & James bring in the big hauls of fish & tell the shark story whilst you’re out there!

As we have seen from the tragedy that is continually unfolding in our country and state, nothing is more evident than the community spirit of small towns & also how every Australian wants to contribute and help anyway they can. Amazing how many Australians volunteer their time, demonstrated from CFA fire fighters  right through to events like our Roo Run & yacht club. Also the incredible generosity of each and every person I come across. The fact that the government have had to ask people to literally stop donating food and clothing and rather donate money says so much about communities pulling together in a crisis. To that end we have also had so many property owners offering assistance, which is so beautiful.

We would like to highlight one very special property and owner in particular who is very generously looking to donate holiday accommodation rental raised from her stunning house in Lorne (for 6 nights from January 16) to the bush fire relief. Accordingly, Great Ocean Road Real Estate will not be charging any management on this. See below attached a link below to this property, a great opportunity to enjoy an exceptional environment whilst giving, a feel good – feel good situation.

On the property front, we are getting great interest from buyers across the board, seeing plenty of people at every open for inspection and several looking at making offers in the coming days and weeks. We also have some incredible new listings coming up, which we can tell you about next Friday. A special property featured today is wonderful property at Bellbrae – see details below.

Look forward to seeing you at the open for inspections or private appointments.

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe and a huge thank you to everyone who contributes to our community, coast, wildlife and country, it fills my broken heart.

Kind regards
