Our Backyard Anglesea & Torquay

A great friend of mine recently started a position at the Bureau of Meteorology and she said since working there, it’s incredible how much people talk about the weather. It’s like when you want to buy a new car and then it seems like everyone is driving that particular model. But seriously how great is a heat wave and then a cool change! Whilst the traffic is more hectic than usual, I love driving along the great ocean road and seeing everyone enjoying the beach, the sprinkling of umbrellas and people in the surf. There is no greater tired feeling than the one where the sun has kissed your skin and your eyes are raw from the salt in the water, then ending the day falling onto the couch, to nestle in and watch a movie, tennis or cricket… that’s summer bliss right there.

We have had incredible attendances to open for inspections last weekend, but the superstar hands down has been ’27 HOLMWOOD AVENUE’…. This property had over 100 people through on Saturday and Sunday and it’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and support for the architectural style. Jane Millar – Architects, has perfected the balance of retaining the integrity of the existing 1950’s home and complimenting it with a contemporary renovation and extension.  Instagram #modernistaustralia has featured it twice and on the first day and had over 1700 ‘likes’ and 60 comments. So many Anglesea residents or holiday makers have loved seeing the house come to life and essentially for it to be ‘saved’. When we think of summer and seaside towns, we also very much have a vision of what a truly iconic beach house looks like and ‘27 Holmwood’ resinates perfectly with this image.

Last week with Christmas and New Year running into each other, a scattering of public holidays and annual leave, you know you’re in a good head space when you have to check your phone to know what day it is! There is a little window during this time when banks, solicitors and businesses are almost unreachable but from Monday 7th, the business world is basically back in action. So if you’re wanting to purchase one of our fantastic properties, next week is a great time to start putting things in place.  I’ve spoken to a few buyers who are already hitting the ground running with setting up appointments with mortgage brokers so they are in the box seat to place offers.

I like the new year quote ‘365 days, 365 new chances’ fresh start and new beginnings gives us the opportunity to put together a list of ‘goals’ for the year and set intentions accordingly, I particularly like to when the planets are perfectly aligned for bedding them in!
